How to: Back Up & Restore 3rd Party Apps

did you go throught the DM, apploader, browse, and choose the alx?

and no files for your device were found....what the hell

DM- apploader- add/remove- browse- mypin.alx

I don't think this works anymore with the new DM. Is their any other way to back up 3rd party apps?

I'm trying to do the app backup since I'm still running the 3.5 hybrid and want to upgrade.

I've tried following the instructions and watched the videos. When it gets to "searching for available device software" windows gives me "error handheld application loader wizard has stopped working."

I've tried bat pulls, and restarting dm but keep getting the same error. Running 64 vista but not sure if that makes a difference or not. Anyone have any advice what to try next?

Edit: Nevermind jnepsa helped me out in chat and all is well now.

As of right now, there is no other way other then using DM :(

I wish RIM added an option to back up 3rd party apps without having to do the device switch wizard.... :)

I am trying to back up my apps and for some reason I'm not able to back up all my apps like before. DM is only backing up about 4 apps. Any ideas?

I believe that DM backups the more recent apps, so that you still have yours, just the newer ones it adds to the backup.

I don't believe I ever had this problem before. DM has always backed up all my apps at one time.

In your backup file, are all your apps there?

No, DM only did a backup of four apps. Dm always did a backup of all my apps even if I installed new apps.

That's how I always backed them up but for some reason all the apps aren't getting backed up. I will have to look later on which apps are getting backed up. I'm on my laptop now.

Ok, let us know which apps were backed up, i know someone had mentioned this happening tothem and that when they restored all their apps came back even tho it did not back up all of them he said

Awesome post. Just backed up and restored my 3rd party apps with no issues. Did a wipe with JL_CMDR for the first time and a 3rd party app backup/restore for the first time. Man I love it when stuff works the first time!:banana::banana::banana:
