How to: Install JAD/JAR files to your Blackberry using a Computer
You just found that theme or game you were looking for all this time, but is in a JAD/JAR format and you dont have a data plan in your Blackberry?
Well this guide will show you how to install those files using a computer, lets get started:
What you need:
- A computer with internet acces
- the web page where the JAR/JAD file is located
- OTADonwloader Software
- USB cable to conect your Blackberry to the Computer
Here we go:
JAD FILE INSTALLATION:
- Download, unzip, install and open OTADownloader, leave it open
- Open your browser and locate the page where the OTA link is located
- Right click on the link and select "copy shortcut/link"
- Go to the OTADownloader and paste
- Click Download in the OTADownloader
- Once the download is complete seach for the folder with the name of the file you just downloaded
- Right click and selec copy
- Conect your device to the Computer and enable mass storage mode
- Go to my computer and open your device memory or media card memory disk (usually labeled wiht "Removable") and paste
- Disconect the phone from the Computer
- In your phone go to media > explore
- Locate the folder just copied and open it
- Here you will find a certaing number of xxx.cod files and one xxx.jad
- Click on the xxx.jad file and select install
JAR FILE INSTALLATION:
- Donwload the jar file to the Computer (for an easy location save it to your desktop)
- Locate the downladed JAR file and right click and select copy
- Conect your phone to the Computer using the USB cable and enable mass storage mode
- Go to my computer and open your device memory or media card memory disk (usually labeled "removable") and paste
- Disconect the phone from the computer
- In your phone go to media > explore
- locate the xxx.jar file
- Click on the xxx.jar file and select install
Sometimes when donwloading JAD files with the OTADownloader you still will get errors when trying to install the xxx.jad file on your phone.
If this happens try again, if you cant succes with the procces, you cant contact the theme developer and ask him/her for a zip folder containing the files needed to install using Desktop Manager
