I have 2 computers, my main & a old "guest" PC [both xp]. My main has the "disconnected" problem. The guest doesn't & that's where I do the BB stuff. I tried your solutions & had my hopes up.. but no, same "disconnected" status. Operation is for USB and it has the BB device manager. When I go to Properties it indicates connection Com 3 disabled... but nothing for USB. So I think that's maybe where the "disconnect" is?
Also there isn't anything in the BB file[s] not in the top level or the remaining CertSync... or is this then "filled" when there is a sync?

As a follow-up. I shut down and re-booted. On the DM it indicates 'disconnected" & PIN "none" I clicked on it and it indicated USB and my PIN BUT!!!! even when I click on it and OK. it still shows "none". On the Device manager properties [bb icon in the task bar], it also shows usb connected with my PIN BUT still disconnected in the DM.
    Frustrating!!

Hey, well let me read on your issue alittle more and i will resolve it ... i know how you feel. Me and BBCM worked on this case and never could resolve it. There is something wrong with the USB connector. Are you running a hub? where is your phone plugged? back front?

Connector is in the front [I also tried one in the back & to a hub.. all work for various devices]. Cable works & the computer recognizes when it's attached/removed [connection sound]. What's weird now is that it indicates the connection & PIN [which never happened before]. I disconnected & reconnected & now it only indicates Com 3 no USB with PIN

PC [both guest & main are PC running XP].
I switch to a rear USB port & got the "none" / Com 3. I closed the DM & re-opened & again got the USB & PIN in both the DM [hitting on the "none"] and the BB task bar Icon properties. But it still remains "none" in the DM Device connected field. BTW just FYI when I plug in the Storm I would also get the windows box asking what to open the Storm with. As there weren't anything applicable I would hit "do nothing"... & it sure does! I don't think that's "it"... but I've been wrong zillions of times.
Another USB fact. I use the front port to review/add/delete BB storage stuff via Win explorer. So I know the port works fine.
