Earlier we told you that RIM officially announced the release of the Bold 9790 and Curve 9380. Like the Bold 9790 the specifications can get a bit confusing at times. So like we did with the Bold 9790 we will break down the Curve 9380 specifications. As with the 9790 there are many similarities between older versions of the devices and the new devices.
One of the biggest things you will notice right off the bat is the newly designed all touch screen. This is a nice enhancement that I am sure many people will enjoy. This is different from the traditional Curve series that we are used to and it actually looks eerily similar to the Torch 9850/9860.
Here are the hardware specifications:
Size 109 x 60 x 11.2 mm, approximately 98g Display 3.2" capacitive touch screen display - 480x360 pixel HVGA+ 188ppi Keyboard Touch screen QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad CPU 806 MHz processor Memory 512 MB RAM; 512MB GB on-board memory, plus microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB cards Camera 5.0 MP camera, Flash, 4X Zoom supports VGA video recording (640x480) Sensors Orientation Sensor (Accelerometer), Proximity Sensor, Ambiant light sensor GPS Built-in GPS / aGPS Wifi & Connectivity Wi-Fi - 802.11 b/g/n with NFC
- Quad-Band: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz GSM/GPRS networks
- Tri-Band UMTS networks: (800 / 850) / 1900 / 2100 MHz or 900 / 1700 / 2100 MHz UMTS
Bluetooth Bluetooth® 2.1+EDR support Operating System BlackBerry 7 OS Battery 1230 mAh removable, rechargeable battery
Lots of nice things to look at here. One thing to note here is that despite the nice new screen, it would appear as though RIM took a step backwards as far as hardware performance. I am not sure why that is, but only time will tell. Let us know if you plan on getting the new Curve 9380.
