Thread: BBM 5.0 problems

i had a friend download BBM 5.0 via OTA on his 8900 and now his BBM is gone.anyone else have this problem? what's the fix?

What OS is your friend running catside?

not sure but he's not on 5.0XXX...

Usually it's one of two things. Either the OS version installed on the device is lower than 4.5.0.138 which does not support BBM 5.0. Or the version of BBM the person installed is the incorrect version for the device. I helped a guy earlier today that had this problem. He has an 8350 Curve. So he downloaded the version for the Curve. However the 8350 runs OS 4.6.1 so it was the incorrect version.

he's on 4.6.1.231

As sunkast said, need to make sure they are trying to install the correct version. I know that TMO just came out with an official release (HERE), install this and then cut and paste the new BBM files 4.6.1 in the OS, you wont need the BBM.ALX file either using this method and you should be good to go

i'm trying to get him fixed OTA.i'm not sure how comfortable he is with the DM.

I personally didnt have much luck with the OTA, once I did the manual install it went without a problem.

he downloaded again and is now up...i suspect like yall said,he downloaded the wrong link. thanks for the help!

I was having the same problem, my solution was to redownload the BBM 5.0 bam i was back on the screen. I am running 4.6.1.250, than all my contacts were gone and i started to panic. I just did a battery pull and every contact i had (all 13 of them) came back.

I recommend doing a battery pull before you try anything else. it worked for me.

Today I installed BBM 5.0 to my curve 8320 running 4.5.0.124 and it works perfectly fine without any glitches.

I've got bbm 5.0 running on my 8900 os 4.6.1.250 running perfectly just be sure to do a back up so you dont lose your contacts.
