Irritated with Update procedure- I'm stuck- Tried EVERYTHING !

Pre- Script : I have tried each and everything I could possible read on this forum to update my 8900 but it does not happen and hence a new thread.

What I have done till now.

1. Yesterday got 2nd handed factory unlocked phone.
It has v4.310.
2. I installed an official Vodafone, Airtel, AT&T, TATA DOCOMO {one by one obviously when one did not work}
3. I installed latest Desktop Software Manager 6.1
4. I deleted two Vendor files. One was hidden and other in RIM.
5. When I installed 1st Vodafone v5 OS, I went to DM and clicked update, it said no updates but it has VIEW PREVIOUS VERSIONS & there was my v5 listed with a * marked & that said only Active users can install it.
I don't have a BBM or Internet plan active as yet but I know that does not matter.

6. I went to apploader--> clicked on apploader, it processes and then "The blackberry desktop software does not have..." error comes immediately.
7. I don't want to wipe away my current OS. What if the same issue happens and then I'll be left with no OS ??

Now, I have found that this error is because,
1. Wrong OS. I have installed via official blackberry website and once even from blackberryos.com & crackberry website- Hutchison and AT&T. None worked.
2. DM, I have latest and it even shows v5 but this ACTIVE USER error.

I just can't find the place where I'm going wrong. I'm doing what its said in the forum.

I ONCE DELETED EVERYTHING OF BLACKBERRY I HAD IN MY PC. RAN CCCLEANER. INSTALLED EVERYTHING ONCE AGAIN. But it didn't happen.

I INSTALL ONE OS AT A TIME. FRUSTRATED :'(

I have looked at your issue, for your information OS4.3.1.xxx that your device had is a very old OS for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and I have found a more recent OS5.0.0.1067 via AT&T, which can be found below;

Downloads: AT&T_8900_5.0.0.1067

Also, take a look at:

Couple things that are strange here.

First, the 8900 device never came with OS 4.3. It started with OS 4.6.1, and was later able to upgrade to OS 5.0.

I would recommend as Guido points out above, to download the latest OS 5.0 OS for your device.

Also, make sure that you only have the ONE OS that you want to install on your device installed on your computer. Delete all the other OS' that you are not going to be using.

I have tried everything Joe again and again. What the super moderator pointed out is what I have done atleast 5 times. He gave me AT&T's link which I have downloaded and installed but the errors I mentioned in post one continues.
And yes it was a typo by my side. Its 4.6.1.310 currently.

The procedure is very simple I know but I'm getting stuck on the blackberry desktop software does not have blackberry device software error.

I have always made sure there is only ONE software installed at a time and that I delete vendor files everytime I install new v5 software.

I'm scared that if I wipe my mobile and then try to install fresh copy, what if the error continues ? Then I'll have to spend money at BB store which I am ignoring right now.

Finally I tried the NUKE BLACKBERRY way which was explained so easily by Neolantis
It has worked and now I'm on 5.0.0.1067 :)
Now I'll be more active here.
