Post Roaming from Philippines to Singapore

Hi everyone! I am a new member here in BlackberryOS. I have a question about my Blackberry Curve 8520. I am currently here in the Philippines, this coming February I'll be leaving for Singapore. I'll buy a roaming sim card, but here's my queries:

*Can I use my Curve when I would be in Singapore?
*How to know if my phone is open line to other countries?
*If my phone cannot be used in other countries, what would be my best option?

Thank you in advance for answering my question!

If your phone is un-locked you can simply have a Singapore Sim card from International Phone, World Cell Phone, Global Phone, it works on post-paid basis, no need to by credit or re-load etc.. simply get billed by the end of your trip. International shipping is available.

Now if your device is not unlocked, you can get a free unlock code at FreeMyBlackBerry.com

It is a legitimate site that will normally deliver the code in a few hours, but they advise it can take up to 24 hours to email the code and instructions. I unlocked my 9800 Torch using this site and I received my unlock code in 4 hours.
Remember that the code for your 8520 will only work your that 8520 and will not work on any other blackberry. Each blackberry device has its own unlock code that will not work on any device.

Once it is unlocked, just go to the site in post #2.

    Enjoy Singapore.

Hi shopauholic, welcome the community. great info ryder. In addition to the info ryder gave you you can see if your berry is already unlocked by following thees steps.
    1. go into options>Device>Advanced system settings>Sim card
    2. once your in the sim card menu type mepd on your keyboard (you wont see anything until you hit the last letter)

you will see a few things on the screen but the " sim subsidy lock" is labeled as NETWORK. If it says Active, then you will need to obtain an unlock code.

hope that info and ryders points you in the right direction.

Thank you so much for your answers ghostryder and Ishap. Sorry for the late response. Anyway, I am planning to have a roaming sim card for my country and buy a sim card for Singapore and so I would have two phones.

As for my question if my phone is unlocked or not. I did what Ishap told and my "Sim Subsidy Lock" says it's "Disabled" so I suppose that my phone is unlock now and that I could use it in Sg.

Thank you guys. You are a big help to me. I really appreciate your answers. Take care and Godbless!

Your device is unlocked so you should be able to use it with any carrier that uses SIM cards.
