I work with a narcotics agent, and he is asking if it is possible to start his video recorder on his 8530 and then insert the BB back into his holster and have it continue to record. Also how long can he record doing this?

Try it with your Storm2.
Have never thought to try that.
My BB locks or hybernates everytime I put it into my holster. I have tried to shut that feature down with no luck.
Any ideas to make it stay active?

I'm guessing if your device is rendering itself locked upon being holstered then more than likely your friends will as well.

There is a setting in the password options to lock the device upon holstering. Not sure if the video camera will still record when putting in the holster. Only way to really know is to give it a shot.
It would record for as long as there is space on the the microSD card to record to.
Try using a non BlackBerry holster without the sleep magnet.
Or just simpily get another bb holster and remove the magnet. If using a plastic belt holster, find the magnet and use something hot around it to help melt the plastic around it...a heated flathead screwdriver or knife. It will leave a clean cut if your careful and the device will continue recording.
