Thread: Verizon BB Curve 83XX/Missing BBM

Hello I have a friend (for real, it's not me), who got a Verizon Curve/OS 4.3/BES from his job. It had BBM but he tried to upgrade to BBM 5.0, but didn't upgrade the OS from 4.3 to 4.5. He wont' be able to upgrade being that its a company phone.

After he upgraded, the BBM icon disappeared & now would like to downgrade to the original version of BBM. How can he get the BBM w/out having to upgrade the OS? Thanks for any help with this.

He could run back through the install process on the same os he has now. If he wants bbm 5.0 he can ota it after deleting the other off his phone and that should fix his icon problem. Stiefler is following me so he would probably put the oat link in here for him.

Here is the OTA link for the old BBM for the curve. make sure to do a battery pull after downloading

Sounds good. i'll let him know to try to reinstall the BBM 5.0 again, now that there is no BBM at all. I was just under the impression that he had to have OS 4.5 to run BBM 5.0.

If anything, i have an IS friend that will "push" the BBM through, but it's too much of an issue when you have to go through the company's IS dept.

If you could find the OTA for the old BBM, that would be great!!! I guess my friend got jealous of me with my Bold w/my hybrid OS w/my BBM 5.0 w/my barcode & ninja avatar & all...lol. Thanks guys!!

Check my above posts and yes, new BBM is recommended to have 4.5 not 4.3

Sorry angie, I didn't read the part about what os he currently has. Yes he needs atleast 4.5.0.138. But stiefler did post the old bbm also. And WELCOME TO BBOS!

how do i put bbm icon on my curve 8330!!! please help i have talked to a verizon rep for two hours.????

Can you list out some details about your device.
To start with, which OS is installed on your device?

You can use the OTA link at the top of this thread... Come back to this thread on your phone and click the link and download! That simple!

Now that i have bbm 5.0 on my phone i cannot scan a barcode i have all the settings set to the way they say to do it. I clean out the back of the phone. Help please. It works on my storm but not on my curve 8830.
