Thread: How to add icons?

i want to add icons to the default folder icons, like when you create a new folder and you have those basic 8 or 9 folders. i dont know if its possible or not. i have a 8330 running .160. i have bbfile scout and when i try and copy a icon into the default icon folder is gives me an error. im guessing its "protected". im wondering if there is a program or app out there that lets you get around that. thanx any help is appreciated.

I would love to do the same thing with my Storm, can you tell me the path in BBFileScout so I can try with my Storm if I have the same error and also what kind of file extension we need.

Ok I found the path and the png extension, I will try to find some on the internet and try to load, I will keep you updated

I was able to place a png file into the file folder icons and also even select it but it's much bigger than the default icons and even if I select it, it shows me the blackberry icon. When I go back into modifie folder, I still see my choice so I don't understand why it doesn't display my choice when I go back to home. I will try resize the file, maybe it's too big

Ok, even after resize, I have the same result. When I go to modifie folder, I see the choice that I want (my imported png) but when I go back to home, I have the default blackberry folder icon. I would love to find the solution. At least we are 2 that would like to play with this and customize a little.

Can someone from the top BBOS help us on this? Thanks in advance to look at the possibilities.

I did that for my 2 emails account and it worked fine but when you go into service book, we can't see a created folder so we can't determine if there is a UID for a folder. But thanks for trying Bryan, I'm sure someone already did this and will come forward when he connects and read this thread.

I was wondering about this for a long time but never really looked into it and when jmu33 asked for the same thing I decided to really find the solution for me and others that would like to customize their BB. Together we can!!

i forgot 2 check this post n see if anyone had posted anything lol oops.....thanx pete for tryin all that stuff and thanx neo for the how to website......unfortunatly, i still get an error that reads "net.rim.device.api.io.file.fileioexception [file not found]" when i try and copy the icon file to the folder......i dont know y and its really pissin me off lol and yesterday i tried to click on "about" in settings and nothing happens lol i think i just need a new blackberry

I get the same error when I try that also, I am going to play around a little more later

just an update, i upgraded 2 the new filescout and still get that same error message "net.rim.device.api.io.file.fileioexception [file not found]"...........
