Hey guys 2 things 1 I been tryin to get wifey on the new .163 os and the pc will not register to her phone the only thing I am able to do is backup and restore. #2 is that I wanna do a bbm downgrade and it seems again because of dm she can only ota bak to the lower bbm does any1 know where I can. The later bbm ota for her? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Couple of details please.

Which device are we dealing with?

What Version of DM are you currently using?

If you are at you PC and the device in question is synced via sync cable, Open My Computer. Do you see the two Mapped Blackberry Devices in the screen?

We will deal with the BBM later if you don't mind.

Pascal hahaha my bad I knew I was forgetting something! My wife has an 8330 from sprint same device I have just had newest color which I hope plays no issue to this! She currently is on .131 and bbm we can deal with later that's fine! Thx for gettin bak to me. And I'm using my 4.6 DM which I have been using for nearly 8 months or so on my phone!!

Okay JSmurf good details, Thanks. Lastly, are you able to see the two mapped BlackBerry device drives when you have the device synced up to the PC? Look in the My Computer Icon that is on your desktop. Once the screen comes up, there you should see the two mapped BB drives I am asking about.

Hey pasca only things that appear are on the bottom the dm icon and the bb device manager in my computer none of the drives show as a bb drive unless I do mass storage! Which then only 1 icon for the bb appears

I think you will need to have the mass storage mode enabled before you can perform the upgrade JSmurf.

I thinks that is right. I always have my Mass Storage Mode enabled.

To upgrade your OS you can have either the Mass storage enabled or disabled. If you are having trouble upgrading the OS I would try reinstalling or upgrading Desktop Manager.

I would try removing Desktop manager and upgrading to a newer version. I work on BlackBerrys all day and have seen crazy stuff with Desktop Manager trying to recognize a BlackBerry.

Rebooting the system, sometimes right clicking on my computer then going to manage, then device manager, then USB then go to the top and select "scan hardware changes" fixes it also.

Is the new OS .163 from a different vendor or is it also from Sprint?

OS .160 if from Telus I don't believe .163 has been released yet

Have you tried deleting the vendor.xml ?

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\vendor.xml

Already tried that lol that hit me late and just tried that n failed. Still not recognizing any device upgrade

1. If you want to keep bbm5 for your wife, run shrink a os and remove the bbm from the os and bbm5 will load as 3rd party app.

2. If you still want to run dm, try turning off pc internet connection for the upgrade.

3. If dm doesn't work, I would strongly suggest going with the app loader( c: program files>common files>research in motion> app loader and double click on loader exe)

And lastly, double check to make sure that vendor.xml is deleted.

Ummm I don't have internet connection on my laptop so that's out and I dunno what else to try I need to get to my home pc and try anything cause I have nearly tried everythjing that has been discussed! Thank u for the follow up olta I think there was sumthin I mnissed from what u just said. I'm gonna go over all this info when I get hime a lil more in detail!! But as of now I have tried everything currently stated!
