Thread: Os 5.0 for 8330?

I read on the home page that OS 5.0 was leaked for the 8330. Is this true? Has anyone tried it? I have searched and cannot seem to locate anything for the 8330.

On whose home page? I haven't seen anything about OS 5.0 for the 8330. Only devices I know of that have 5.0 are the 8900, 9000, 9500/9530. Welcome to BlackberryOS.

It is not true. OS 5.0 has not been released for the 8330. Be patient and your day will come. But once again Welcome to BBOS

Thanks for the welcome. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the OS 5.0 wouldn't have support for the 8330. On Blackberryos.com home page on the right side it says Latest Releases and has listed 5.0.0.143 for the 8330.

Ahh that is just simply information passed onto us by reputable sources who have said such builds exist.

It may have not surfaced, but these days you never know what to expect. I hope you get your wish of a 5.0.

So.. Say this day comes along.. Would it run on a 8350i? Running 4.6.1.204 and its a tad pokey and missing features I like on 4.7

I tried doing a 5.0 OS hybrid for the 8330 and it was a major fail. BBDM 5 just reports the Core software can't be installed as it is missing the required files. So, then I figured the next add best thing would be to add the 5.0 browser into a 4.6 hybrid OS. That was a fail as well. The plazmic mediaengine cod file is made for higher resolutions that can be supported on the 8330, so I just got an error. Anyhow, if anyone cares to do some more tinkering, I put this list of cod files together, covering the different modules attributed to each "application" on 5.0.0.140
