Help with BBM 5.0 on 8330

hi, i've always been a frequent visitor to Crackberry.com and i've read MANY. past posts regarding issues on the 5.0 bbm but i just could not find the right solution.

"No additional applications designed for your device were found."

is what it says when i open the alx file.
the files were extracted and the cod. files were in the same folder as the alx. file. anyone have any idea on how to fix this issue?
    thanks in advance.

Welcome to BlackberryOS Danny. If you are having trouble loading BBM from your desktop, an easier way may be to install it OTA. On your phone's browser go to this link. It should let you download BBM from your phone.

    Hello all BBer's,
I'm a bit lost!!! I have a BB VZW 8330 running OS 4.5.0.77. I really want to try the new BBM but I have been hearing all kind of issues with it. 1st is it true i have to upgrade my OS to a newer version by another phone company (sprint). 2nd or due I run the hybrid OS for my BB. If I do try to add the hybrid to my bb do I still have to 1st upgrade the OS from 4.5.0.77 to 4.5..0.160. I'm a bit lost? I am a MCP, MCSE and MCSA and know computers but want to know what I'm doing 1st with my beloved BB.
    Thanks,

Hey WJC, welcome to BlackberryOS. Yes you will need to update the OS on your phone. You can get 4.5.0.160 from Telus. For instructions check the link below. And if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

im running the most recent 4.5.
i tried the link you gave me and it did download.
but it doesnt seem to make a difference towards my bbm.
i checked the applications on my phone and it says the current bbm running is the 5.0.0.8 version but yea.

i downloaded the latest bbm from the link i was provided with and rebooted my phone.
Now my bbm icon is gone entirely, and i cant even access it.
the bbm 5.0 is still evident in my applications list though.

You probably don't have a new enough OS on your phone... Follow the same advice I gave to WJC in this thread.

need help! Same issue- lost bbm

Same thing happened here. have curve 8330 4.5.0.77 and download bbm 5.0 - lost bbm but still see the app in applications. What do I do next? Is it possible to download higher software from another carrier which is told above? How would I get bbm 5.0 on my curve? thx!

Welcome to BlackberryOS. As I explained above in this thread, you need to have at least OS version 4.5.0.138 or newer for BBM 5.0 to install correctly. You can read the instructions from this post on how to upgrade, and if you have any questions, please ask.

Ok so here is what you will want to do

Back up your phone and 3rd party apps.
Download and install to your PC 4.5.0.160 Here

Once that is done then download BBM 5.0 for the curve Here

    navigate to c>program files>common files>research in motion>shared>loader>.160 os folder

Copy the alx file from the BBM 5.0 into the .160 os folder
then copy all the cod files from BBM 5.0 into your java folder (which is inside the main os folder) and select replace

Then navigate to C>prog files>common files>research in motion>app loader>>>>scroll down to the bottom of the list and you should see a vendor file >delete that

In the same folder you will see a phone icon (tittle app loader) double click that, which will launch app loader. At this point make sure you phone is plugged into the PC and click next
