Is my VZW phone compatible with it/the other carriers OS upgrades? someone please help i feel like an idiot...
p.s. feel free to add my pin
I did this last night on my VZW 8330! It worked perfectly. I was running the .77 OS and followed the directions to delete the vendor file and update to .160 from Telus. DM did not work so then I tried the alternative metod with AppLoader. Worked like a charm!
Then I did the BBM 5.0 update via DM. No problem.
Thank you BlackberryOS.com!! Just follow the directions in the guide

Curve 8330 and BBM 5.0- How to make it work. EASY DIRECTIONS!
^^^^^^^ FINNNNNNALLY. THANK YOU!!! ^^^^^^^
I just wanted to note that your directions were simple and worked like a charm! I (as I am sure many people) had a lot of issues getting the leaked BBM 5.0 to work, using different links that were suppose to be for my phone and OS etc and not working numerous times and followed peoples advice/directions from different blogs/forums about updating the DM and my OS etc etc etc... I searched everywhere and tried anything that made any sense. Nothing worked and I was ready to go back to the original BBM... which THEN of course I couldn't find a way to get the ORIGINAL back no matter what I did or where I looked or what advice/directions I took or tried... Which brings me here. When I first updated to the leaked BBM 5.0 it deleted the BBM icon like most of everyone elses issue but DID say it was under the applications... (Also, it DID delete my contacts, which I was prepared for but because I only had a few on there I didn't bother to save them but for those who have a LOT of contacts, keep it in mind! Back them up or write them down incase or be prepared to readd everyone again)...and yes I tried installing it through the DM, it wasn't listed no matter what I did.. which is why I updated my DM (as someone said to do that as it wasn't showing up under the version I had and they said once I updated to a newer version it should show up to reinstall and again, it didn't work).. I also noticed people kept giving the same link to install the original BBM but the link ONLY worked for OS 4.0 and 4.1, older O.S versions but nothing for 4.3 or higher, or that I found or saw anyway... so, for the record, with all this said, I am not one to reply to these things but I figured a lot of people are having the same issues and THIS worked for me and thought I would help out... The BBM 5.0 FINALLY worked for me, no issues... and I am running OS 22.214.171.124 to be exact (what it says under options- about).. so if your issue sounds similiar to mine and many others, try this... It worked for me and could work for you too!
I think the main thing for me was that people weren't mentioning (maybe because it was leaked and people didn't know right away) YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPER OS IN ORDER FOR ANY bbm 5.0 LINK TO WORK!!! UPDATE YOUR OS!!! Which is WHY this advice here worked which is WHY I wanted to take my time out to write a reply. Because it WORKS, it was clearly written and if you read it and FOLLOW what it says, you can't make a mistake. Don't rush it. Just read step by step.
Thanks again to the person who posted these directions and for the very simple step by step, only a fool could make an error! :cool2:
Directions are as follows: (copied and pasted from above)
"Ok so here is what you will want to do
Back up your phone and 3rd party apps.
Download and install to your PC 126.96.36.199 Here
Once that is done then download BBM 5.0 for the curve Here
navigate to c>program files>common files>research in motion>shared>loader>.160 os folder
Copy the alx file from the BBM 5.0 into the .160 os folder
then copy all the cod files from BBM 5.0 into your java folder (which is inside the main os folder) and select replace
Then navigate to C>prog files>common files>research in motion>app loader>>>>scroll down to the bottom of the list and you should see a vendor file >delete that
In the same folder you will see a phone icon (tittle app loader) double click that, which will launch app loader. At this point make sure you phone is plugged into the PC and click next "
I'm glad you got it to work. It can be tiresome loading and loading and loading...
Welcome to BlackberryOS MsLisa. Happy to hear you have it working.
So were can I find a download for 5.0 now?
