Welcome to BBOS. In order to run BBM 5.0, you will need to upgrade your OS first. BBM 5.0 will not run on the current version you are using. I should caution you as this is risky for any person who is new and unfamiliar to the world of BlackBerry.
First step would be to verify your model. On your phone go to Options > About and verify that the first line reads 8330, or if it reads 8330m. This makes a huge difference.
It is a Blackberry 8330
The latest official 8330 OS version is 4.5.0.169 offered by Cellular South. This is what I recommend you upgrade to. Yes, it is possible to install an OS from a different carrier than your own, so long as it is for the same phone model you own.
So to begin, click here and choose the option that says BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone. Do not get it confused with the option for the 8330m, you do not want that.
On the next page it will list several different version. This is what you are looking for, it should be the first one listed:
Click on download. It will ask you for some info, then it will let you download the software. Don't install the OS to your computer just yet. The guide I have linked below will tell you when.BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.281 (Multilanguage)
