Thread: fail to initialize during multistage operation

i hve 8310 n i tried to update to latest OS. n now i cannot open my bb. the indicator led bilinks cannot open. when i connect to my desktop the device connects n goes off.

i tried to to wipe with cl loader it didn't help
i deleted vendor.xml file also
cannot update os after loading image to ROM, n initialize fails

can any 1 help me with this

That's a good start crimeleader however, we need to know the entire OS build number for example....

• O2_UK_8310_4.5.0.187
  
• AT&T_8310_4.5.0.182

Or was it another 8310 OS 4.5 build that you were able to find.
If you will please give us the detailed information about the OS that you tried to install.

Are you trying to use Desktop Manager to install this OS?

One more question if I may, what is your carrier?

i tired from both apploader and destop manager.. my operator is Dhiraagu / Maldives

can i upgrade os without sim card??

I feel like you should be able to upgrade without the SIM card installed.
The first thing we need to do is to get the desktop manager to see the device.

Did you try this procedure?

i can see da device from desktop manager (PIN UNKNOWN) but, it goes after 1 sec and comes back, repeats. i think usb connection resets all tym .is it a problem???

I wouldn't worry about wiping the device just yet.
Were you able to interrupt the boot cycle and get the device to load an OS?

Or can your PC see the Device? Is it mapped out on the PC as a drive?

Let's try try to unistall Desktop Manager and reinstall a fresh copy.
Once you have performed this then try to connect your Device to a new copy of Desktop Manager.

What don't you see as a drive? Basically we need you to go to control panel and add/remove programs and uninstall Desktop Manager and then re install Desktop Manager.

I have tried both these builds tonight on my sons 8320 and I am having the very same problem.

I can run apploader and see the device but when it gets to the final stages of the instalation it fails.

A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again.

Unspecified error encountered [J:0x00000024]

I dont know why because one of these builds was on it before.

I am confused but if I find an answer in the next 24 hours I will post it here.


NOTE*

I have just done some research on this in the developers community and it appears it might (only might) be because an app intended for a 5 OS is trying to be loaded on a 4.5 system device.

I will test this out in the morning. and report back.

RIght I have got the answer to this now.

Load the OS WITHOUT ANY apps at all.
Then go back and load the apps and restore the back ups after that.

Thats how I did it and it worked first time. (except for the three times last night when i didnt know the workaround lol.
