 Just discovered the world of Blackberrys 2 days ago, and after adding some new apps last night, I've been shut down already. Getting the message in the subject line. Track ball won't respond,... just nothing. Like this thing is a crashing pc. Should I abandon ship on all apps and start from scratch again, but slowly as if I'm figuring out what it's "allergic" to? Add something,.....wait.....add another, .....wait....
    Any and all help appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Diane

Try doing this, go to Options/Advanced Options/Applications and scroll down until you see the "Phone", highlight (do not click), hit the bb button, edit permissions and select "Allow" on all, bb button and save. Hopefully that will help prevent the error you received.

Thanks for your speedy reply, but I am a novice.....so what I need to ask is:
after going to advanced options, I don't have an option that seems to relate to your suggestion. I have: App, Browser, Browser Push, Def. Services, GPS, Host ROuting Table, Maps, Service Books, and Wireless Update.

Which one should I go with, please? You said to "highlight", but not click... do you mean to click the mouse on it once then scroll down to "allow"?
You refered to bb button (?) sorry

If you go to options/about....what does it say your OS version is?

If its 4.x you should go to options/applications and you should see phone

If its 5.x you need to go to option/applications and in the upper right you need to choose core then you should see the phone option

the BB button is the one with all the little dots next to the trackball...its your menu button

No worries and nothing to be sorry about..

You will need to hit the back button ( first button to the right of the trackbal). The bb button has 4 dots on it and is to the first button to the left of the track ball. Once you go back one level you will see the applications text and you will need to select that option. It will bring up another menu with what is installed on your device. Just scroll down to the "Phone" app, once your cursor is on top of it press the bb button (button to the left of the track ball) choose edit permission then change the options there from custom to Allow but clicking on each one. Then hit the bb button again and choose save.

Hmmm, sounds like you might have installed something that isnt playing nice. Have you made a backup of your device? The way to do this is to install the Desktop manager onto your pc. Once installed connect your device to your pc. Select Backup/Restore option then in the next window choose backup. Once this is complete you will want to go to Options/Advanced Options/Security Settings and wipe your device, this will remove all user data from your phone include third part apps. We can restore your device with all of your important data but none of the apps you have installed already. Do you want to do this?

And yes, Nextel walked me through a download replacing my previous desktop manager sortware today..... So apparantly it wasn't corrupt. Had to be associated with whatever apps I downloaded lastnight: drivesafe.ly, facebook, ebay, didiom, and maybe pocket express. All were from Blackberry Aps World........hmmm

Hard to say which one is the guilty culprit... But you shouldnt have an issue with Facebook, eBay or pocket express. I havent used the others so I cant give you any feedback on those.

Ok, once your device is booted back up plug it into your pc. It may ask you to update your device, just choose cancel. Launch the Desktop Manager, select backup/restore then select Advance Restore. This will open another screen with two windows in it. The one on the right has all the data that is currently on your device the one on the left will be empty. Above the second window at the top left corner there is a link namee File, click on that and it will take you to where your back up is. Select your back up and it will populate the window on the left. Now you can load each item individually. I recommend only loading your Address Book, BlackBerry Messenger, Calendar, Messages, SMS messages and that is it. Then select next. Let it do it thing, once complete go to where I told you in the 7th post and allow on all again. Now you should be able to load your apps without any issues.

Did you go to Advanced Restore? If you did, look at the top left hand corner of the left window, you will see text that says "File" that is the link. If you click on it it may open a menu that asks you what you want to do, choose open.
