    Here's how I found it:

I was having a hell of a time getting the OS to download to my Torch. After a lot of searching, I found out why.
For some reason, this release from New Zealand has a second vendor.xml file that is loaded in a hidden file. You need to go to: C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML.

I located the file by doing a search for Loader xml, including searching hidden files. I use WinXP, and when my search located the loader file, I just right clicked the file and deleted it.

The download then went without any issues."
thanx really you did great job with me i hope it works fine

Not all PC owners run Windows 7, but if you do, this is where to look.

    It is located at:

    C:/Program Files/Research In Motion/Apploader/vendor.xml (delete this file)
    C:/users/your name/appdata/roaming/Research In Motion/Blackberry/LoadedrXML/Vendor.xml (delete this file)

this could certainly be the cause of your problem Ahmed, and I hope we all can come to a resolution for everyone's relief.

I will be away for most of the day, but I will try my best to take a quick peep here when I have a chance.

I would hope everyone can check their folders and look for the extra XML file, it may be there, it may not be there for some users.
but how would do it be the issue when the phone works perfectly except for tht soft reset issue!

Ahmed, when a user downloads any Official or leaked OS for their BlackBerry phone which has not been issued by their own carrier, by not deleting the vendor.XML file, the OS you are trying to install will not function properly, or at all.

That's why it's important to delete the vendor.XML file if you plan to install any OS not from your own carrier.

That is a tough question. It could be a number of things from .706OS not compatible with an app(s) on your phone to the OS itself. Lets see what happens after you find the second vendor.xml file.

I have the New Zeland .706OS on my Torch and am trying to recreate your issue...Nope, couldn't recreate your issue.
I'm just wondering, why do you do two soft rest functions so close together?

At this point, I'd go back to .668 and try to recreate the issue. If not, you may want to stay with it until another carrier releases .706, or just stop the soft reset for now if you want to stick with the current .706OS.

I posted your issue to the rest of the team and we'll see if there are other possible fixes.

Oops, sorry. I just reread the original post again. OK, I'm back on board with you again. The white screen issue was after the upgrading.

So, forget that question and we'll see if other team members have an answer to the problem.

i just reverted to .546 after a wipe and it did somthn new when soft reseting, the small clock loading icon shows up and then gets back to the main screen with (media card is inserted, media will be synced,,,,,) then i will have to press the alt shift del again to get it done as the 668 and 706! so i dont think its os issue now , the .546 was working fine be4 and now it does the same, i hope this helps!

OK, first thing is you only have to post once as it is displayed in the thread and everyone that is reading this thread gets advised of the new post, just FYI. No biggy, just saving you posting time.

Who's your carrier and do you have a blackberry data plan? Just making sure that avenue is not an issue.

Since your phone is unlocked, are you using your original SIM card with a blackberry data plan from estisalat?
