Welcome the BlackBerry Curve 9300 aka Keppler. Front and center!!
Earlier in the year, Brett as well as the rest of us were watching the pipeline for devices that Research In Motion had been working on. And while it would seem that the BlackBerry makeover days would fall upon us over the course of these last few months, two characteristics started to emerge.
Form factors of earlier devices were being made to evolve to contemporary hardware and the badging (monikers) of devices were keywords that RIM seemed to standardize.
Kevin from CrackBerry received a few photos of the next "low-cost" line of BlackBerry devices. Dubbed the BlackBerry Curve, this remake of the 8500 would follow suit with an earlier progression of the BlackBerry Bold 9000 to its current day transformation into the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the latest BlackBerry Bold 9650.
While the device is being shown sporting Wifi, Kevin's article suggests that the 9300 will should carry over the 8500's spec as well. That would bring 3G network access and at least a 512 MHz processor.
What's your first impressions? Is there anything you would like to comment on about the BlackBerry 9300?
Sorry folks I am really late on getting this out to you. Some of you may have already seen these pictures of the Kepler Curve which leaked out a few days ago. There have been a lot of talks in the forum about what devices will be receiving OS6. The main topic has been whether or not OS6 will be compatible with devices running 256MB of RAM. We have gotten confirmation from BBleaks that this device will be released with 256MB of RAM, and as we can see it’s running OS 5.0. If you take a closer look, you will see a platform number of 6.3.0.5, this leads me to believe that at some point we will see OS6 for this device, and other 256MB devices. BBleaks has also reported a possible 9320/30 CDMA device that should come equipped with 512MB of RAM.
As it stands right now the Kepler Curve 9300 will be released with a Trackpad, OS 5.0, WiFi, camera w/o flash, 256MB of Flash Memory, 3G Bands 1,2,5,6, and a screen resolution of 320x240. Besides the screen resolution this looks like a nice step up from the 85xx series as it’s said to be replacing. Is this going to be your next BlackBerry?
Please share your opinions and feedback with us here.
Forgive me if I sound dumb, but what is the need to release this device? They already have the 9700/9650 and the 85xx series. Whats the point in releasing this? If I wanted a touchpad 3G phone, I would go Bold anyday over this

It's an 8530 that runs OS6. Lame. Still waiting for BB to do something innovative.

I think the goal here is to offer a cheaper device that still packs a punch. I do agree with you all though. RIM needs to start thinking outside of the box. Posted via mobile device

Actually it's running OS5 which makes it even less desireable.
It's nothing but a 85** facelift..........
Yes, very lame.

Leaked: Hands on video of the T-Mobile Branded BlackBerry Curve 9300
The BlackBerry Kepler Curve is a device that really hasn't peeked anyone's attention. With this device being the "new & improved" 85xx series, it just doesn't make you want to jump up and down for joy. Techno Buffalo was able to get there hands on a prototype of the Curve 9300 and they show us a few of the new design features that RIM could be implementing into future devices. At least I hope, I love the new buttons at the top of the device. I am a huge media buff and adding the Back, Pause/Play, and Forward buttons kinda made my jaw drop for a split second. Give the video a look over, the running time is only 3:47.

Yeah. I was playing with my friends new white 8520 and noticed the media buttons on top. Made me jealous since I'm always listening to music on my storm. Cool feature Posted via mobile device
