Thread: NFC have you used it yet?

I have not used my NFC yet and I m not even sure if it works... what do people use it for?

At BlackBerry World and Jam there were stations setup with NFC tags that you could easily check into.

The new Music Gateway makes it easier to connect via bluetooth with NFC tech.

There are a myriad of ways to use NFC, and I imagine more payments will be made that way as well in the near future.

I have used NFC between my BlackBerry Bold 9900, to transfer data to my friend's BlackBerry Curve 9360, and the process was flawless

As Joe and Grim mentioned those are some ways that NFC can be used. NFC can also be used as a key to securely access a building or be used with smart accessories, smart payment terminals, and smart access points.

Is it right you can use it to add contacts on BBM as well by tapping phones together or have I dreamt that ?

I still don't get why US carriers haven't used this medium yet. I guess they wanna wait til Apple "creates" so they can feel hip.

I use NFC to tranfer files (mostly pictures) to my wife's Bold 9900 and vice versa. It's so much quicker than Bluetooth..And I hope to see NFC-technology grow very soon. Wouldn't it be great just to pay your groceries or gasoline with your BlackBerry device??.....

I want to see them add nfc functionality to blackberry wallet so that we can use it at places that already support Google wallet

I haven't used it yet : but I'm so keen to do so.....after these comments : I do want to try it out on my 9900 ! I'm a blackberry Fan all the way ! Can't wait for the BB10 to come to South Africa !

Nope' i haven't used it yet either. I don't even have it activated on my phone. I need to do more research on NFC. Sounds GOOD
