Someone (who I don't know) messaged me on Facebook suggesting I upgrade to 7.1.0.523 on my Bold 9900, but when I look at the download pages, there are none for the Virgin Media UK network.
Is there a download that I can safely use on my UK phone, and if there is, can someone add the direct link, and a reminder on exactly how I upgrade the OS (cos desktop Manager says I am up to date and won't pick up one not listed by the UK providers).

The chap who contacted me said the battery life was improved, though a comment here on the download page says there is no difference... and there are bugs.
I'm wondering if I should hold off (though I see you are using it)...
I worry about upgrading in case I nuke my phone :(
You should be fine as long as you follow the guide posted above. You know where to find help if you run into any issues. Be sure to back up your device first.

I have done my back up, then went to section 4 post about for loading a new operating system onto your device and went through as instructed as I ran the video. At about 4 mins 20 seconds it reached the moment below:
When I got to the "Device Application Selection" screen and pressed "NEXT" it just went to Completing the Application Loader Wizard and the box below it reads "No actions are required"...
Assuming you removed the vendor.xml file(s), and backed up the device, which I'm sure you have, plug in your BlackBerry Bold 9900 via USB to any port on your Windows PC, start up DM Desktop Manager v7.0.0, and reattempt the update process again.Quote:

I would just like to publicly thank grimreaper for helping me sort out my OS upgrade.
Turned out that the vendor file I deleted wasn't enough - there was another hiding away which he located for me and from that point on it was plain sailing to complete the update.
