Thread: Language options....

I was surprised to find that the language options on my new Bold 9900 are limited to English and English (US). The phone was purchased from Amazon UK. My last phone, a Bold 9700, from Vodafone ES, gave me the options of English, English (US) and Spanish. Are there downloadable language packs for the 9900 and even the 9700 as my wife, who has the 9700 now, would like to use Dutch.

No, there aren't separate language packs to install. But what you need to do is install a OS that has the language you want. Many OS' have multiple languages installed on them which is why they may be a bigger file size.

What are the current OS' being ran on your 9900 and 9700?

Yes you can add new languages using BlackBerry Desktop Software.It would be nice if you took a look here .

My 9900 is 7.0 bundle 2406. The 9700 is 6.0 bundle 2949

I agree with Joe Jerde.You may need to install an OS that includes the languages you want to install.

Youssef is right, but keep in mind that you will be limited to installing languages to what languages are already within the OS installed on your device. This is why you may need to update your OS to a multi-language OS.

I need the apps version of the OS. Go to options... about...

It should read like... 7.x.x.xxx and 6.x.x.xxx

Thanks Youssef. Now added EN (UK) and Spanish.

However, I notice that when I change the input to Spanish the symbol set doesn't reflect the accents and other grammar requirements of the language. Looking back at DM I don't see any options to add extra symbols. Is there another way?
