Thread: Warning about OS 7.0.0.540

Dear BlackBerry OS Members,

I always make sure to extensively test every new OS that comes out and report any bugs/glitches since RIM leaves us users in the dark with no changelogs and we have to actually compile that list for them

anyway, I have noticed that OS 7.0.0.540 has a very bad Radio *.sfi file which makes the signal level weaker and sometimes you will not even receive emails or BBM Messages in the right time especially if you are sitting indoors. Which has forced me to downgrade to the next latest OS which is 7.0.0.503

I offcourse don't EVER do an upgrade or a downgrade before manually wiping my device completely and starting out fresh. It is a big hassle, but I have my very good reasons to do this, one of them being that sometimes in the application management, the list tends to be empty and not display your installed apps, and tha'ts just one of the reasons (too many to list here)

But still, if you are not comfortable with wiping your device manually, you can simply uninstall the 540 OS from your computer, restart your PC, then install 503, delete the vendor file, launch loader.exe, keep watching the apploader folder, you will see vendor.xml recreated again after a few seconds of launching loader.exe for the first time. Delete it again and close/open loader.exe again and select the option to downgrade

Your results and mine may vary and you may not be experiencing the same results that I am experiencing, but many of my pro BlackBerry friends have reported the same thing.

Although this OS is official from Vodafone and recently became official from my Carrier here in Dubai (du) , it is crappy IMO

Can't comment on other devices but usually if the OS version is the same, it shares the same improvements/bugs across all devices from my experience

I've noticed other issues too!
Since this update my BB started freezing out of the blue..
And it's not the regular kind of freeze when the clock starts to show up
It's a freeze when nothing works ...not even "Alt+>aA+Delete" .....
It starts to scare me .....with a processor and RAM like that it should not do this.

Its a leaked version so this is something you should expect.

No I'm actually talking about the official ...

Just to confirm my findings guys, 7.0.0.540 has been pulled off many carriers such as Du (from Dubai) , Etisalat (Dubai), Vodafone (all of Europe) and some other carriers.

Seems RIM also took notice of the severe degradation in signal / radio level!

I noticed that immediately when I used it for a few hours, the whole BB connections were very slow and many of the times I wouldn't receive anything until I did a battery pull!

If this is true then I'm surprised that these carriers did not test the OS enough to catch a major flaw such as bad radio signal.

Do you honestly think they do their job well bro?

they might've easily missed it as they wouldn't even dare to think that something major such as the radio signal is buggy, they probably focus on other non-critical issues

But after a few days, maybe they got many complaints, which lead all the carriers to take the OS down.

I know for a fact that Du and Etisalat from Dubai have removed it, in addition to many of the Vodafone carriers worldwide and a few others.

I recommend anyone who is using it to downgrade ASAP to 503

The best solutions for that is to use official versions.

540 IS an official OS buddy

that doesnt guarantee anything, it had a crappy radio

just browsing around the net, noticed Vodafone Ireland and Vodafone UK neither has 7.0.0.540 anymore.
Only has 7.0.0.585 for BB Torch 9810 which is a far more stable (Official) build release by the way.

Also other than Vodafone, from Dubai, Du and Etisalat has pulled it out, this just confirms my findings
