Thread: BlackBerry Bold 9900 not launching until September?

According to what sources have told the guys over at BGR, we will not be able to get our hands on the Bold 9900 until this September. If this turns out to be true it will definitely have a toll on the patience of BlackBerry users, as RIM announced announced that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 would be available "in the summer" from carrier’s when the product was unveiled at BlackBerry World 2011. I don't think that anyone imagined that it would be at the very end of summer. How do you feel about the new Bold 9900 not being available till September? Are you changing plans to get another Berry if this date becomes confirmed?

Another little snippet of information mentioned at the end of the BGR blog:

P.S. We have heard RIM might have one more major OS release in the cards, possibly BlackBerry OS 7.5, before the launch of QNX on smartphones.

One more additional OS step to QNX may put a damper on getting any Android apps onto BlackBerry smartphones anytime soon. Unless this intermediate BlackBerry OS 7.5 will include the Android player app - which allows users to have the ability to run Android apps. We'll keep our eyes peeled on this one and let you know of any changes in the news.

I hope RIM isnt starting a trend by delaying all devices (first the playbook, now this)
Untill RIM says otherwise I'm keeping faith of the 99** being released sooner.
I read on BGR that other sources said July / August, so who do we believe?
Just hope these 2 big delays aren't going to be a new trend...

I can't believe that they can't get it together faster. I think they are losing market share because they keep putting off the launch of there products. It is amazing how many devices are out there. The devices they are producing are the same old thing, just new guts. I don't know how to make an OS, but it shouldn't take the " experts" that long to get it right the first time. Blackberry spends alot of time updating there OS's to fix what they forgot to fix before production. I mean come on an update every 2-4 weeks, that's just insane. I don't believe that Apple has had that many iOS updates (not as much as RIM), and I realize these are complicated devices, but get it right the first time and make the consumer happy.

Yep, hard to tell what's gong to happen, but as Poolman points out above, a lot of people are losing faith.

I'm getting disappointed
I'm looking forward to a new BB. I had the luck to get my about 6 months ago because my 9000 died on me and I had insurance.
I was waiting for a new one and not renew my contract get a 9780 and having to find out something newer was coming like when I got my 9000. Few months later the 9700 came.
Lot of people know its coming so they wont get the 9800, but I do think this can be the reason why, in the US, Android is raising hell and it`s costing RIM. And people loosing faith will jump ship to either Android or Apple.
If this keeps up, a lot of faith will be lost...
I hope its a one time thing and in September I´ll be happy with my 9900/9930 and a playbook
Till then, I'm waiting for OS6 updates to keep me going...

No kidding, that's 3 months off from now. In other words, all summer long.
