Thread: BBM on WIFI

My BBM does not work on WIFI. Am using Bold 9790 with os 7.1. Other apps FB, Twitter are working fine on WIFI.

BBM will not work over WiFi you need a BIS plan.

As Ice pointed out, you will need a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) plan. This is a package that is exclusive to owning a BlackBerry and you will need to talk with your cell service provider to get your BIS plan on your device. Good luck, let us know when you have your BBM up and running!

You need to subscribe to a blackberry internet service from your wireless service provider

Just to note that once you have a BIS/BES plan, despite not having any service (flight mode), if you are connected to Wifi, you can still go onto BBM and other apps like fb, Internet, Whatsapp, etc.

I believe this is true as long as u are connected to BIS via wifi. You can tell by looking for a 'BlackBerry' icon that shows up beside your wifi icon when connected to BIS

This process can also be referred to as Airplane Mode, Flight Mode or Aeroplane Mode.

I have just completed a test with my friend in the same household, on Wi-Fi, with the Mobile Network turned off, and it worked

Cool, could come in handy while traveling.

I was wondering what the deal was with the BB symbol. Haha 7.1 is a bit different from 5.0 I'm learning
