    Hello,

The latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software can be found here:
BlackBerry - Desktop Software - US
The easiest way to copy SMS messages to a word document would be to copy the SMS messages and paste them into an email. Then just sent it to yourself or if you have a word processing app like documents to go you can paste it there as well.

Where the SMS messages on the phone prior to the backup or where you trying to backup the phone to extract the SMS messages? If the SMS messages were on the phone prior to the back then they should still be on there now, and all you would need to do is select the SMS message and copy it to your email. If the SMS messages were not on the the phone prior to the backup and you are trying to use the BlackBerry Desktop Software to retrieve previous text messages then it will not work, and you will have to contact your provider to send you the SMS messages. Did you have BlackBerry Protect installed prior to the backup?
