Thread: Unlocked vodafone uk 9700, now i need some answers!

the company i work for supplies field service engineers a 9700 bold. they have a huge corp contract with vodafone uk, with a vodafone sim data card (no voice, just data).

My work location is in italy.

Ultimately and Wisely, i shoudl say) to cut down roaming costs (uk datacard in italy, just immagine) they have applied a new policy : all blackberries will be unlocked (mepd/mep2) and each employee will need to get a local data plan and the vodafone uk sim card contract will be cancelled.


i have just unlocked my bold 9700 with the mepd/mep2 code. All went fine, the sim card lock is now disabled,
i am now using a vodafone.italy sim card with a smart300 contract, both voice and data now work fine.

In my device i have the following OS installed:
9700AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel2949_PL6.6.0.236_A6.0.0.66 8_Vodafone_UK

can i install unbranded os? with what benefits if any?

Yes, you can install other OS versions on your unlocked Blackberry device and also use other SIM cards from any carrier you would like to.
