OS 6 should work just fine on the 9780? You could try out this version of OS 6 as many people seem to like it:

Also what is the reason you want to downgrade are you experiencing any issues? The easiest way to downgrade is by backing up your device and performing a factory reset.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I already have OS 6 preloaded on the 9780. I would like to downgrade to OS 5 due to compatibility issues with certain software. Is that possible and if so what are the implications?
