Thread: Help Needed..Updating OS

I have downloaded and installed a new os to my computer..but am having trouble loading it onto my device.

I am stuck on the "communication port selection" screen..my device is connected to my pc but the box where my pin should appear remains blank???

Any help would be much appreciated as i am left with "Error 507 Reload software" on my device without a clue on how else to upload it..

Do you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed?

If so, and the OS is correct for your model BB, and is from a different carrier than yours, did you delete the Vender.xml file in C:program files/common files/research in motion/app loader?

(In 64bit systems its in C:program files (x86)/common files/research in motion/app loader)

Yes I followed the tutorial and deleted the vendor file..but still no joy. I downloaded dm and managed to upload the os through that.

I was hoping this upload would fix my freezing problem since updating to os 6 but no joy..every so often my phone just freezes and the trackpad becomes unusable or will only move sideways.

Anyone ever come across this? This is the second os6 I have tried and I am not sure what else to try? I've tried downgrading back to os5 and it works fine but I like os6 and its features..

I've read that some people have this issue for some reason. Device runs fine on an OS5 but put a 6 on it and not good results. Some have zero issues with 6. Quite frankly that's what keeps me at 5.9 something. Hope you get it. Me, I'm waiting for the 9900 to drop!

Make sure you are installing the latest OS 6 v 6.0.0.600 then follow this guide:

It will allow you to have more free memory and increase the performance of your 9700 drastically.

I follwed the guide and still getting same results..although I think its not freezing as often..do you think there could be something wrong with the actual phone?

just download bbsak wipe device and the u can update your phone eazy !! dont forget to make a backup first
p.s delet vendor xml file.
