Thread: White screen with occasionally red, purple or green stripes

I just wanted to clear things out on this and eventually receive other opinions on this issue.
After installing a theme I occasionally get my display showing all messed up. I wiped the device with BBSAK and installed a fresh OS. But still the issue occurred. After a while it even got worse: when I lock-unlocked my screen it turned white. I then have to lock-unlock the screen for several times for the screen to show normal again.
After being on the phone for 30 min last night the phone screen turned completely white. Tried locking-unlocking mechanism, battery pull, reloading OS, downgrading OS and also upgrading OS. Nothing helped. The phone display still shows white.
I know this isn't a OS issue because I can still make and receive phone calls, I can also receive e-mails etc.

After searching and knowing a little about electronics the problem that was mentioned by others that made the most sense was: "a static energy buildup" which cased the display to not function how it should.
Tonight I will be disassembling my BB completely and individually remove the static from all the electronic parts. I will let you guys know if this solved my "white screen" issue.
Are there any comments or opinions?

It seems removing the static from the screen doesn't make to much sense.
I removed and cleaned every part of the device. Assembled it again and still white screen after frustration I threw my bb on the bed and voila screen works normal but occasionally still shows white screen. Only other problem I could think of was a broken/half-broken display.

New display has already been ordered from Amazon :P

What do you think was the cause of issue? The theme? Moisture?

A theme bricking your display doesn't make sense or does it?
I haven't seen any signs of moisture while dismantling the device and if my memory recalls I haven't ever gotten my BB wet.

So I have no idea what the cause of this weird white screen issue is. I guess I already came to the decision to just buy me a new $50 display

No, I have never heard of a theme causing issue with hardware. I would think that bad wiring, or sitting on the device could cause screen damage. I don't know, a lot of scenarios to think about.

Let us know how the new screen works out.

The best BlackBerry repairing story I've heard so far

You have a borked screen. You can take see if you can find a broken BB and swap out the screens.

And then one can ask himself how come the screen works normal sometimes and sometimes doesn't. I think it is 4/5 broken... Lol

Try replacing the screen.
