App Error 523
Hi,
My 9700 has pretty much given up due to App Error 523. It just appeared randomly, when no new apps etc had been installed. It boots, and initially went to about 85% verifiying security software, then displayed the error, although it has got as far as displaying the clock (when on charge/usb) for a moment or two before then displaying the error.
I have attempted to use the "restore a nuked BB" instruction without much success, and also the online update service, but it seems that as soon as the error message appears, the process is unable to continue.
It was purchased as an unbranded phone and uses a mobily SIM and I have been trying to avoid using a branded OS download. Does anyone have any bright ideas? I will suffer a branded OS if it means getting my BB back and working!!! (As long as it still connects up with Mobily [Saudi]). I have tried to get the Mobily OS from RIM, but the page displays an error.
Hugely grateful for any help
Thanks,
Rob

Hello Rob,
That error usually means a system process failed. Please try the following:

Yes I know is for an upgrade but the important thing to note is the part on wiping your device.
Take a look here for an OS version:
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites
If you cannot find an OS version there take a look at our leaked 9700 OS downloads here:
9700 Bold - Downloads - BlackBerry Forums
and here for official 9700 downloads:

Please remember with that leaked OS are not 100% stable. I would suggest you take a look at some of the comments to see which ones are good if you decide to take that route.

In addition to the suggestions provided by ice2921, I can tell you that the "leaked" OS 9700_6.0.0.534 : 9700_6.0.0.534 (153.70 MB) is very stable. I am running .534 on my Torch and it is running so well, I am holding off on upgrading to .546. While the .534 and .546 are official VodafoneUK releases, you won't have to worry about the download being branded. When you check out http://www.blackberryos.com/blackber...es-videos.html, it will instruct to delete the vendor.xml file will remove the "branding" of the OS.
Just follow the instructions that ice2921 provided you and you will be up and running in no time.
Please let us know how easy it was.
