Does any one know if the rumored OS 6.1 will be available (officially) for upgrade to a Verizon 9650?

I believe reports suggest this spring/summer we will see OS 6.1.

When it is releases will it be only for new BBs or will a 9650 be able to use the upgrade?

Not sure if older BB will be able to update because of the lack of hardware components that will come with the new devices that will be released with OS 6.1.

No, the OS does not affect that part of the phone. I have the same phone as you do with OS 6 and it works great.

I am having 9650 bold loaded with OS6.0.0.524. one problem that i am facing is while charging screen gets freeze till you again press any of the keys. is it normal?? i am from India & phone is running on Tata Indicom over here.

It happens to me but because I have the phone configure to enter bedside mode when charging.
So check if you have that by going to the clock application and hitting the menu key and going into option and check if you have the "enter besdside mode" when charging, if you don't and it still freezes then that's not normal but in beside mode it is.

Will 9650 get a higher os than 6.0.0.600?

Yes, it will in time. But as OS 7 progress OS 6 updates will continue to slow down. Just like we hardly ever see OS 5 updates anymore.

I wouldn't mind seeing an update for the 9650 as well, but unfortunately it seems that Verizon is the last to update anything.

I got tired of the constant lag, and "thinking" (with regards to the timer), so I installed a hybrid a few weeks ago. It would have worked great too other than I had the option of installing the hybrid over one of two existing OS, one of which was the Sprint 6.0.0.600. Unbeknownst to me at the time, that particular version has issues with what I believe I was told was its radio and ribbon files. So while my battery life improved a great deal, my device also started freezing severely. Almost as if the keypad lock was turned on, when it wasn't. At times I had to pull the battery because it wouldn't respond whatsoever. It ended up getting bad enough after just a few days that I wiped and reloaded 6.0.0.524, which resolved the freezing issues.

So IMHO, until there is an update for 9650 OS6, I would personally suggest staying clear of the Sprint 6.0.0.600 OS as it caused me nothing but problems

No kidding, when I was using my Verizon 9650 I was charging my phone up to 3 times a day with their official OS. When I finally updated to another OS I was then only charging once a day.

I know how you feel. I keep two charging pods, one in my living room and one on my desk since that's where I spend the most of my time. Plus I keep a spare battery charged and on hand. So between the 9550 & 9650 I end up playing musical batteries, swapping this one for that one LoL
