Thread: How can I use my Bb gps?

Well I noticed on the DM (application
loader that I have the option to use
My Bb gps. Once I clicked to install
It started to run the app loader. After
a while my Bb will shut off and I get
"Fatal error", what gives?

Not sure. I've never had the privilege of using a BlackBerry with GPS before. What part of DM are you referring to specifically?

Blackberry Bold is a Build in GPS, which means you can use the device as a gps navigator, not sure if i understand what you posted here, but if you would like to have the gps working on your bold i can guide you trough the process...

Grrrr, I'm referring to were it
shows/says application loader.
I don't have the Dm open now.
But it gives me an option for the
bb gps/maps.
Its a good think I have my iPhone.

ok you are reffering to the blackberry maps application, wich is some like google map too, ok to get started you need to download an application that integrates with gps on the bold, because is your first try and you need to get used to the workaround process i will suggest to get amaze gps, this a free one, with a turn by turn voice activated function, and some cool features

to do so point your blackberry browser to this link and download it please...

once done you need to post back in here to continue the process..

I found the link from their website and while the app looks cool it will not locate GPS. Have you had this issue before? It shows I am San Francisco even though I am in Los Angeles

J I tried it today on my Tour and it would not locate GPS for me either and wouldn't let me past the enter your location screen

both of you refresh the gps....prior to install or once in the application go to the map view and select map gps

Tried that already E, says no satelite reception and I am standing out on my balcony and google maps is getting a very strong signal.

All you have to do is goto options>advanced options>gps and make sure its set to location on. that will allow the GPS to work with BB maps, or any other nav program that is compatible with your phone. Hope this works for you, and hope I didnt step on any toes, lol.

i dont have a tour to test, so no sure how to fix it, but they have their own forums for things like that if you want to check...

Yeah it was a no go for me and I live in a desert so it shouldn't have been hard to find me lol

Same here and probably the worst forum I have ever seen.

I don't know if this has been addressed yet so here goes:

I have an unlocked storm and for as long as I can remember the GPS on this thing never worked for me. Google maps, amaze gps, you name it no luck for me. All my settings are enabled for gps support. Then I tried my friend's storm which is not unlocked and his gps works fine. I even tested google maps and it found his location within seconds.

Do you guys think that having a cell phone unlocked to be used with any carrier affects the performance of the gps? In other words, does unlocking the phone render the gps useless?

I kinda feel left out in terms of usability with my storm :17:

i have a unlocked bold on tmobile and use the gps every day, when you go to options, gps.

what are your settings here....
does the gps find your location..

GPS data source: Device gps

GPS Services: Location On

Location Aiding: Enabled

oh and the gps never finds my location..
