How can I use my Bb gps?

under locations, does it have something next to
latitude
longitude....and all other lines, maybe just 0's

nope. I even hit the BB key to see the options and no luck. I know for my 8820 I see latitude/longitude but not on the Storm.

should say something like refresh gps when you hit the menu key, do you have that option....

unfortunately no.. Should I reinstall the OS? Cause I remember when i was on .75 the gps was non functional and I made sure all the settings were turned on.

seems to be an issue with the gps...

lets try this, go to options, status, once in there pull the keyboard and type test
on the next screen hit the menu key and select run, check mark gps, then click run. and follow the onscreen instructions, just a note, if you are not in an open sky area that might not work, but you can try anyways if that doesnt solve the issue we need to look for another solution.

just to make sure we are talking about the storm right? have to ask because your profile list two diff devices..

yup the storm.

ok here is what it says and I'm standing right near the window of my apartment. The window is open btw next to the fire escape.

GPS Input: Go outdoors and get the GPS receiver fixed to satellites by clicking the Start Fixing menu item.

Expected Output: Device should fix to one or more satellites and the obtained location updates should be displayed belw.

Current State: Idle

GPS Info: *this area appears blank*


I try to hit the BB key but nothing happens. If I hold the BB key it brings up the list of programs running in the background.

how long it took to show idle... that means the gps doesnt found a satellite to get the gps signal, as i told you it doesnt work usually in indoor situations...

it said Idle the moment I hit the test button for the GPS

Is there any way to stop this GPS test? It's not frozen cause I can rotate the screen and it switches from portrait mode to landscape mode and vice versa.

I will try this tomorrow when I'm outside.


Sidenote: Does it matter if BBmaps is installed or not?

If I remember correctly, in the diagnostic app, spacebar is used for most of the navigation in a test.

doesnt mater, just click the back key till it ask you to leave the test screen....

as far as i know it has nothing to see with bbmaps, i have no bbmaps in my 8900 and it works ok....and never used bbmaps when i had the storm...

Blackberry Bold is a Build in GPS, which means you can use the device as a gps navigator, not sure if i understand what you posted here, but if you would like to have the gps working on your bold i can guide you trough the process...

All you have to do is goto options>advanced options>gps and make sure its set to location on. that will allow the GPS to work with BB maps, or any other nav program that is compatible with your phone. Hope this works for you, and hope I didnt step on any toes, lol.

Thnx. I'm not using any other nav app for my phone. After reading about amAze, it sounded dope. But then again it doesn't pick up on the local gps. So its not cool. Next app lol.

All I know is that I tried amAze gps. I get stuck with no location.
I don't feel like paying for a gps. So I think I'll just stick with my iPhone and its gps. But thnx for all your help. Hopefully everything can be fix & will be able to use the gps.

You're on AT&T right? Isn't there a fee you have to page for GPS to be enabled? Or is that just for their AT&T navigator software service?

Yes I'm on at&t, and I think its
an addtional 10 dollars a month
for the "at&t nav"
