You know what I'm wondering is if I can sign up and use my existing number, but later on if I decide I want the other features, if you can get a Google Voice number. Or are you stuck with the lower features?

I'm already using a Google Voice number on my account. How on earth do I switch it over to use my own cell number? All I have is an option to change my GV number, and they want to charge me $10

In other words, I want to do the opposite of what sunkast was asking about doing.

Wondering that myself, and if it can be done vice versa. Changing it from my existing number to a GV number.

sunkast's post on the blog says "a week or so", however, in my case it took so long that I had forgotten i'd requested one. I'm thinking it was at least a month.

That may be because I requested it a very short time after Grand Central shut down. The only reason I didn't choose to keep using my Grand Central number was it was in the New York City group of area codes, my new GV number is in the 518 area code like the rest of my phone numbers.
