Thread: Keyboard App Suggestion/Request

Hello everyone,

I've posted this request on crackberry and figured I'd post it here incase people are interested.

I switched from a curve to a storm about 6 months ago and have noticed my typing has slowed down when comparing it to the keyboard on the iphone or a physical keyboard on the curve/tour/pre.

My request is a keyboard app that requires just a tap on the screen instead of a click/press on the storm and if possible, wider keys on the portrait view full screen keyboard.

I'm not sure how much trouble it would be to create such a thing but I know that on the storm slider's unlock screen I only need to tap the numbers to get them to register. Perhaps the developer stumbled onto something.

I would gladly pay for such an app because double checking everything I type in surepress has become quite the nuisance.

As far as I konw this is not possible because of the base os of the phone. It doesnt allow a program to override those functions

Edit: Would creating a keyboard with the described settings to overlap the original work? You'd just have to be cautious about clicking if that's the case. Or creating an entire app for SMS, Email etc which uses it's own keyboard.

Not sure if that falls under the can't be modified statement or not.

I dont believe that would be possible.. the way the input of the phone is made is to have the connection made of the click for input. and here is my opinion on this.. I bought the storm because of this, I am in no way saying anything bad about you or anyone else, but if this is something you dont like why would you not maybe look at the touch pro 2 or one of the fixed touch screen devices?

I like the "Click" in general, just not for text input. I would switch to the iphone if Verizon offered it as I feel that it runs smoother but I need to have cell service to do my job.
