Vlingo Beta for the Storm...Works Pretty well
Has anybody else tried this app, i am findng if pretty amazing and simple to use.
Its in beta for the storm and works.
Easiest way to get it.
Just text the word vlingo to 95495 (for Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon subscribers only)
or go to their website
Watch a short video from the website
vlingo Demo Video
You can set it up for hotkey use in options during the setup process (mine is the left). Whenever you push it you hear a beep and start talking......
For example if you say "email jane"
The email box with Jane opens and then you say "Hi Jane, I need the presentation for Mercy emailed to me right away" or whatever semi short massage you want to email. Vlingo will type your words into the email body. Then hit send. it seem to start recognizing words better the more you use it. Email is then sent to "jane", without typing while driving or sitting on the beach enjoying a Corona.
You can Google search, serch for weather or send a text the same way.
You can send a note to yourself or add a calendar item all by voice
It works pretty well, the voice recognition is pretty good if you spoken clearly.
You can also use it to make calls, watch the short video
I think it's a pretty awesome and i'm not seeing excessive memory or battery loss with it.
Is the beta for the Storm? I have been using it in compatability mode for about two months and really like it. I think it would be alot better if I had a version made for the Storm.
Yes, beta is for the storm, works great actually in landscape
I just redownloaded it and took it out of compatability mode. Your right it works great. Thanks.
you're welcome, it actually does get better at words the more you use it. Kinda amazing. I am actually curious how long you can talk. I got it up to 20 words with one error and that could of been me

I love it. You can do calls, messages and emails. Also open apps. I have facebook and Twitter set up. Has some custom settings. I have been using it for over a month. It's teaching me not too mumble. Tip - it only can dictate short messages correctly - but you can make three short messages in a row to complete your thought. Sometimes it gets hung up and you need to reset.
Here is from the support page on their website vlingo

If your phone is configured on a corporate BES:
If your phone is on a corporate BES and Vlingo displays an error saying that certain permissions are not set (typically a combination of Phone, Carrier Internet, and Company Network - though it might be something slightly different), it's likely that permissions for third-party applications on your phone have been restricted by your network administrator. Quite frequently, we find this is done unintentionally as an unexpected side effect of configuring the BES. We'll spare you the details here, but the solution is for you to ask your BES Administrator to make the necessary configuration changes to bring the phone back to its original default behavior. Please have them review the detailed explanation and instructions at BES Administrators Instructions..
If your phone is NOT configured on a corporate BES:
Occasionally a non-BES phone may also encounter permissions problems. This happens infrequently, and appears to have several different causes and symptoms. It may happen after Vlingo has already been running successfully for a while.
Try resetting your firewall. Go to BlackBerry Options -> Security Options -> Firewall -> Menu -> Reset Settings. This action may take a few minutes to complete. Be patient and allow it to complete
The next time you run Vlingo, you may get a series of dialog boxes asking you whether you want to allow Vlingo various connections or permissions in order to run. Put a check mark in the 'Do not ask again" boxes, and click Allow or Yes.
At this point it's likely that when you press the side key to speak to Vlingo, nothing will happen. You simply need to restart Vlingo. Go to your Programs screen and click the Vlingo icon. You should only have to do this once, not every time you want to use the application.
Vlingo should now work properly.
If this procedure doesn't work, try deleting and reinstalling Vlingo from your phone
