Then I'm missing something somewhere else in my settings. I did this and I get both a text and an email.

Does it take a few messages, or do you have to remove your cell number from the account?

Thanks for the help guys, didn't mean to sound rude or condescending, but I have to be missing a setting.

Yep, and let me add to what I was saying. The reply txts don't come back to my phone but they do come back in email form and to the blackberry gv app. On the gv app the reply txt looks threaded. Either way this way works for me

I'm not in front of my pc or I would screen shot the option you could check. I saw before the don't send sms txt to phone for voicemail option but what I was talking about is like on the home screen where you see your phone number, right under it you should be able to select "edit". In there you'll see yet another don't send sms txt to my phone. Not exactly what it said word for word but something along these lines. I believe that's the option that prevents your phone from gettings sms. Hope this helps.

I'm really liking GV. But I haven't quite got the hang of SMS email. I just tried it out and had SMS messages forward to an email address, but I couldn't reply to the SMS email.

You have to reply from the gv app on the phone, open the app and if you go to see SMS the you have the option to reply there, talking about this I still think the app is very limited on what you can do with it.

I also tried replying to the sms email and it reached the person as a txt message. It does go in email form, and I do believe it shows headers etc.

This is what I meant, in the settings screen under mobile, click edit.

Once in there, you'll be able to uncheck the option "Receive SMS on this phone"

Of course, I removed my numbers to protect the innocent.

isn't it like everything where if they (i mean vzw saying that you are abusing the friends and family) think you are using the program in a way not intended they could either make you pay for it or disconnect your service. Over the years that was what some of the contracts i had signed for unlimited minutes said.
