The Weather Channel Offering Free Ad Supported App

The Weather Channel already has a premium weather application, if you wanted to cough up $3.99 to get it. Today TWC has announced a new free ad supported app for BlackBerry.

It features:
- Interactive radar maps
- Current conditions
- Hourly conditions
- 36-hour and 10-day forecasts
- Severe weather alerts
One of the neat things is the ability to share severe weather alerts, current conditions and forecasts with friends and contacts via email or text message directly from the application. Very useful for alerting your friends of upcoming weather conditions. The ads are not too big or placed oddly on the screen. If you want don't want ads, you can still get the premium version from BlackBerry App World.

It doesn't have a homescreen icon, not that I can ascertain. But I must say after downloading it, this is a nice app.

I really like this. Sure it's not a lazy man type of weather app where it displays the weather on the home screen, but it sure gives a lot of detail and very simple to use/read. I like it a lot. Thanks Sun

I'ts a sweet app, too bad it does not supports home screen icon, but then again weatherbug didnt either with OS .238
I just uninstalled weatherbug and i am keeping TWC app =]

downloading now, sounds nice. Currently I just use the mobile site for weather underground, i'll give this a shot

What do you like most about underground app? Is it much different than the full view?

I have a storm and it says to animate the radar to select A, but there is not a keyboard option on the menu. Anyone found a work around?

In addition, anyone know anything about the paid version? Is it just ad free?

I am a weather nut, I must confess!! I am one of the fools who looks outside or goes outside when the tornado sirens go off!

Try disabling compatibility mode, or the opposite of whatever it's currently set to.

I believe the only difference is that the premium version is ad free.

From my experiences:
1) no home screen icon info
2) on my Storm, it doesn't REALLY support touch, and doesn't switch into landscape ever. it acts like it's in compatibility mode but it's not.
3) on my Tour, it didn't prompt me for enabling GPS location like it did on my Storm. Forces me to type in a location.

all in all, WeatherBug beats this app HANDS DOWN (and it's free too).

I can't get the radar feature to work on my Tour either......

I hit A, but no so much radar'ing...lol

Can't get this app to run at ALL on my Tour (4.7.1.53). Two errors upon attempted load: "Error starting TWC: Error loading module 'TWC' OutOfMemoryError." Next try gets me "Error starting TWC: Module 'TWC-1' has verification errors." I'm pretty sure with 95 megs of memory free, there should be enough. Yes, I tried a battery pull. This app lasted a whopping 12 minutes on my device,including the two battery pulls - one to try and make it run, and another required to delete it.
