Vonage, an Internet telephony company looks to graduate from the home based platform with two new mobile applications. According to reports, the iPhone and BlackBerry applications will be available on devices starting this afternoon. Consumers could save over 50% on calls to several countries using these new applications.
The application will be available to all iPhone customers (on the AT&T network) and all BlackBerry customers regardless of their network. iPhone users will be able to make calls using the AT&T network and WiFi. When using the AT&T network customers will still use minutes from their service plan. iPhone users must also open the application every time they wish to use it. A BlackBerry however will automatically revert to the Vonage rates when using the carrier's network every time an international number is dialed.

I understand the way you can save on international calls, but if you're a domestic user only what's the point? You're still using your minutes.. Just my opinion on that. Great write up though!!
Not a problem! Thank you. Hopefully this will truly launch this afternoon and not be delayed by the carriers. Apple rejected Google Voice, but apparently Vonage has tried VERY hard to stay within both Apple's and RIM's guidelines for telephony apps. So cross your fingers!!!Quote:

I am running 5.0.0.230 and try to download the app, but it gave me an error, "Sorry, you must have version 4.2.1 firmware..." Is anyone else getting this? Any way around this? I love 5.0, I really want try vonage app for making international calls.

Received an email reply from Vonage stating that the Storm was not supported at this time.
