Thread: RIM to release a Twitter App!?

The word going around the BlackBerry world is that, Research In Motion is making their own Twitter client. If this turns out to be correct, our friend Sal has yet done it again! He has supplied a November 16th date for the release of such an application from RIM by his ninjas! Asking how much better it could be then 3rd party applications? Their Twitter client is rumored to have built in push so there will be no more refreshing your time line, you would just open the app and go. I am eager to see this turn true and also turn out great! Are you?

I am really excited, as I am sure just about everybody else who tweets from their Blackberry is to get a chance to use a RIM developed Twitter client. The push notification feature for it would be amazing. Never having to hit refresh again is like a dream come true. One thing that I wonder, and only time will tell, is what will the UI be like. IMHO I believe that this client will have some of the best functionality in comparison to other Twitter clients. RIM developed apps usually have great function. But I wonder if other Twitter clients will out do the RIM one when it comes to appearance. RIM has always seem to believe that functionality trumps form, and I wonder if that will continue. I would like to see a client that goes above and beyond all the third party ones in both arenas. All we can do now is sit back and wait...

i wonder why more twitter clients haven't just implemented the push api rim has available

Thus far, TweetGenius is my favorite Twitter app, and I'm excited to see what they re-emerge with after their merger with Beejive.

That said, push is huge and I'll certainly be tuning in to see what RIM delivers.

I cant wait to ck it out. Maybe they'll release to all instead of a select few.

I'm looking forward to this also. Curious to see how the battery will react to constant tweets being pushed to my berry though. I see the potential for severe battery drain.

I am actually more worried about how twitter and that will work well together, if they have problems with bandwidth and over posting now?? wait til you get what how many million BBusers with twitter too?

haha good point...might cause a problem like when RIM's servers went down after the first BBM leak because they couldnt handle it
