    New App: Snaptu

Java-enabled phones: Hate the interface on your phone when it comes to wrangling social sites like Facebook and Twitter? Wish the layout gave the info you wanted like movie times and weather? Snaptu is a java-based phone interface that does.

If you can run java applications on your phone you can run Snaptu. The application provides an iPhone-esque tiled interface with a variety of tools like a Facebook client, a weather checker, and an interface for Google calendar among over a dozen other tools.

The Snaptu interface is easy to navigate whether you're using a touch screen or directional pad—all of the menus are numbered and keypad friendly. Before downloading you can check out the catalog of applications on the Snaptu site and see what the interface and menus for various tools look like.

You can download it here: Snaptu - A Different Mobile Web
    And it's free

Interface on the Storm is excellent, There is access to all the news channel, Facebook, movie listings, Accuweather, Picasa, Twitter.

Snaptu: Many Social and Information Apps in One

Does the user interface on Java enabled mobile applications make you feel like pulling your hair out? Do you wish the layout gave you more of the pertinent information you are looking for? If you answered yes to these questions then my friends Snaptu is the solution for you!

Snaptu is a Java enabled application with a Facebook client, a weather checker, an interface for Google calendar, and many more tools. Snaptu provides an iPhone like tiled interface and is easy to navigate regardless of the type of Berry you have. Not sure of what Snaptu features you would take advantage of? Then browse the catalog of applications on the Snaptu site before you download. You can also see what the interface and menus for the different tools look like.

Snaptu is a free download and the only requirement is a mobile phone with Java capabilities. This application seems really interesting and it could be of great value. Snaptu seems like one of those apps that combines features of many applications into one. The benefit of that is that the user only needs one application on their device to do the job of many, thus saving precious device memory for other things. Snaptu is a really nice application that can have great purpose and many different uses.

For more information on Snaptu or to download the application click here.

Seems pretty cool. The Facebook client is similar to Social Scope except you can view your messages. Will tell more as I use it more.

I tried this out a long time ago when I still had my storm and I found the touch interface horrid to use. And there was no setting to update twitter automatically you had to do it manually every time. As well as most of the apps were UK based. Has this changed on this version?

The touch interface seems to work fine on my Storm. Actually it's pretty cool. You're right about Twitter, it only gives you access to the mobile version. And yes, most of the news channels are UK.

I noticed that with the Storm what would highlight most things selects it in Snaptu and I am not using the Twitter client since I have plenty of dedicated twitter clients on my phone already

I'll stick with this, until I have a better facebook alternative for OS 5.0.

    Similar to Snaptu: Aolqa

I just saw another app called Aloqa that looks fairly similar to this one. For 5.0 people that need a Facebook app, it looks like this one might also work for you.

    Aloqa - myAloqa - Download

Just tried Snaptu, really like the UI, was a little forgetful and would end up clicking the screen instead of just touching it. I would never use the Facebook app that comes with BB, but with Snaptu, i see myself spending more time on facebook via my BB than ever before. Def. a good software. One thing i did realize is, this app doesn't work landscape, gets all weird and can only be viewed in portrait

    **
I initially ran this on BBCM hybrid v8.5 when i first posted, I have not installed the new 5.0.0.191 for the storm and this app does work on .191. I'm not sure how it is for other BB devices, but it's def a go on the latest storm OS leak.
