Not sure if there's an open thread somewhere. Has anyone tried the app BChat with threaded sms? Just curious to know if its any good and worth getting for it's $0.99 on mobihand. TIA.

Okay, let me & the BBOS family know if it's any good. The reviews aren't so good.
Yea, i saw that but I didn't see the point in buying something if RIM is planning on including such option in the future. Also, there's big talk about another 5.0os release and maybe that might have it, so with all that together, IMO, it's just better to wait. But then again it's only a buck, a buck that is spent on a bottle of water, soda, anything...lol
Anyone use this app? Is it worth it? Screen shots please!!!
Ok paid and downloaded this morningfirst impression of the app are it is a nice app but does need some tweaks. Here are some screen shots
This one is of my home screen after I received a text. You can see that not only do you get an alert from your built in text app, but from Bchat as well. So you need to go into both apps to clearAlso for easier access then you would have to have both the stock and bchat icons on your home screen so you could clear them easily. I did find a work around for this though, I added Bchat to quicklaunch so I wouldn't take up valuable home screen area with the icon.
This next shot is of the Bchat main screen that shows your text conversation by contact. Since I only had my wifes phone to play with I only have one :lmao:
This next shot is of the actually conversation once you select a contact from that list. To me it seems rough graphic wise and needs some touch up IMO. The nice thing is if you look at the bottom of my pic you will see CHAT: that is where you can text the person back so you don't have leave the app. That was a nice feature and added some points to the positive column
Over all I am not disappointed I bought it especially for .99 and hopefully they will update to get better.
Hope this helps![]()

I also forgot to add that it will auto break up your text messages over 160 and send them in order![]()

Thank you for that's review. Guess I'll give it a try, it's only .99.
No problemlike I said for .99 it really isn't that bad especially if they keep updates coming and making it better. I find now that I moved it to Quicklaunch to open the app I really don't mind clearing two separate alerts.
Thanks for the review Bryan. Glad it was only 99cents.

Just received an email from Mobihand, bchat updated to 1.15. This is good sign that they are trying to make the app better than it is right now. I notice that there's a time stamp on sent and received messages, not sure if that was there before. Also the chat bar at the bottom is highlighted. I also notice that if I received a text while in the conversation, the received message is marked me as tho I sent it to myself.

Have you ever seen a friends iPhone and wondered why your BlackBerry text messages can't be put together in a much more organized and logical form? That is where bChat comes in. bChat gives you a true "threaded SMS" application where instead of one long list of text messages in your inbox, you have lists of conversations based on the contact name. This allows you to much more easily find what you need because of the simplification of browsing.
Ever wanted to save your conversation with someone so you can email it in full, or keep a record of it for a later date? bChat easily does this for you, by saving each conversation to a text file on either your device memory or your memory card for easy access, emailing or exporting.
Note: For best results, do a battery pull after installing.
Also, if you have an application like empower these applications will conflict and one or the other will not work.
You will get duplicate messages in bChat and the sms app because of RIM API limitations but to get rid of these duplicate messages this will work...
Go to options ->security -> firewall, and block sms, and then allow bChat to receive them the first time you receive a message after this. This will cause the message to only end up in bChat.

Yea. But does your camera & all your apps work???? Hmmmm! I had the trial version for empower & it's a nice app, but couldn't shell out the cash when I know 5.0 is coming.Originally Posted by watkins

I entered the contest over at CB, but I haven't seen the results for some strange reason.
