Thread: Latest version of Blackberry Maps

Does anyone know what the latest version of Blackberry Maps should be? I'm running 4.7 and am curious if there's anything newer. Also why doesn't Blackberry make it's mapping software available in App World...seems like it'd be the best place to keep it.

One last question, the only reason I've kept Blackberry Maps is b/c it's required to run Weatherbug...anyone know any way around this? I'd love to save the memory but have 2 mapping programs onboard (Google Maps b/c I prefer it...Blackberry maps for WB).

blackberry maps is part of your OS and there is no update. its not available in app world because it is on every phone unless the person deletes it and the only way to reinstall it is by putting it back on your phone via DM. as for weatherbug there is no way around it, try downloading weathereye or bbweather.

Thanks. I figured it was part of the OS but wasn't sure.

I've got a copy of BB Weather but removed the app b/c it was draining my memory and didn't have as much information as WB...perhaps I should see if the latest version is any better (I took it off 3-4mos ago-before they started showing satellite images...or that's what I think the latest version does).

Yep I agree with the above

If you want to stick with Free weather then I suggest BBweather it is a great app that has good options for being a free program. The only downfall of this app (and it is for some and not others) is the Icon is not as crisp as say weatherbug or berryweather

I believe this is the newest version with the GPS location on it

there is alway berryweather if you feel like shelling out the $10 i bought it and love it.

I was wrong in my earlier post...it's not BBWeather that I had, it was Berryweather...paid $10 and saw it hit my memory before removal. Perhaps I'll revisit the latest version and see if it's any better.

The new version of Berry weather is awesome. Nice to have radar and stuff. havent noticed any memory leak really from it. i would try it. then you could delete bb maps if you dont use it. I havent had BB maps on my phone since i bought it. lol BB maps only required for geotagging feature in BB messenger and weatherbug.
