Thread: Storm Slider latest release trashing memory

Am I the only one that upgraded to Storm Slider 4.0 yesterday only to find my memory getting trashed? I paid to upgrade, only to find it suck my memory dry. They've put out 2 updates since then (running 4.02 now) but still noticing unacceptable memory drain.

If this is to be expected or if SS is a known memory drag, does anyone know of a better solution?

i have ss running with no memory issues. do you have any other 3rd party apps running?

I have not noticed any significant memory drain...what 3rd party apps are you running? hybrid?

4.2 fixed the memory problems. i'm running it with no memory drop.

My memory was extremely stable before this update. I hadn't added/changed any apps before/after the upgrade...which is why I think it's caused by the latest version of SS.

I'm running BBCM 7.2 over .148 OS (w. a .132 radio). About the only app running is Ubertwitter.

It helps when you are running 5.0. I just can't seem to get this OS to leak and trust me I've tried.

Well, I guess that's one motivation to step up to 5.0. I just noticed there's also a new version of App World and saw some folks discussing an update icon that was popping up...perhaps there was an update icon I hadn't noticed that contributed to the drain.

I'm updating the App World and also grabbed the latest Ubertwitter. Think I'll also update Pandora, give it a day, and if it continues to drain, I'll report back.

the memory leak has been solved with the 4.1 update. the only thing 4.2 updated was the previous version was forcing itself into compatibility mode for some reason.

As an FYI App World does not work on 5.0 so if there any apps you want off that make sure you download them and back them up before upgrading.

stormslider has been upgraded to 4.4 let me know if you or anyone else has any problems

Are you part of the development team? I'm amazed that after the initial release (when I saw the memory problem), there have been 4 updates.

I'd give the Storm Slider development team an A+ for recognizing the problem and addressing it quickly.:hail:

I was seeing some increased latency on .3 but the memory problems were vastly improved. I've already loaded .4 and if I see any further memory/battery problems, I'll report back.

im just one of the beta testers and there is no team it is just one guy creating these apps by himself. im just trying to help some people out. this update has been in the making for awhile and the dev will not rest until all the bugs are gone. and he has some more ideas in the making so the updates will keep coming

It was remarkably stable from a battery/memory standpoint pre v4.0...and moving in the right direction w. 4.0.4.

thanks for the reply...i have suggested before and would still like to see the icon(like the free version) so you can launch it immediately.

not enogh people wanted the icon so it wasnt added. you can lock using lock button and have it activate as always and then there is the new feature where you click the BB button and click lock screen and SS will lock the phone. i personally like this feature more then using the side keys.

i didn't realize ther was a menu>lock screen option...i guess that will do
