Dear SmrtGuard Users,
What is New?
- NEW Web Interface.
- NEW "under the hook" changes for faster backup and restore time.
- Added support for device running OS 4.2.x
- Other improvements and updates.
** On another note, I have had to contact support (via email form on their website) because of a issue I was having with SmrtGuard. My backups/restores were working perfectly, but all of the sudden the audio ping, and remote listenin were not working.
After a few emails back and forth with support, I asked if there was a way for me to get them a file(s) from my Storm to support for them to check out the issue further. As it turns out, they directed me to the event log file that is created on the BBs. Upon closer inspection of the event log report, it turns out that although I my SmrtGuard was "activated", because of the new security protocols, I actually was not being authenticated fully- contrary to the software telling me that I was.
Would you believe what my issue was??
Well, it turns out I am one of the early adopters of the software from back when they used both numbers and letters for activation codes (aka alphanumeric). WELL, due to me upgrading my OS and their new security protocols, I had entered in my activation codes in all lower case letters (of course numbers are neither upper nor lower case), and this was the cause of my SmrtGuard no longer working fully.
A quick re-entry to all upper case letters resolved my issue.
SmrtGuard indicated they would update their knowledge base and/or totally do away with the alphanumeric activation codes all together but were not sure of which route management would go.
At any rate, I just wanted to post my findings about v.150 and my communications with SmrtGuard technical support. They are to be commended for working with me this past Friday night from 9-10PM eastern time ;-)
PS They do respond to tech support issues, but I do wish they had a telephone number though.
SmrtGuard is now out of BETA and is official. I have updated the original post (OP) to reflect this ;-) At any rate....

Who knows, by then they may even adjust the pricing schema some more ;-)
