Status, I agree its a very useful app, But for me, I can't see spending 45.00 a year on it. I don't have any critical stuff on my phone. The only benefit would be the GPS tracker if I lost it. But, I can pay 50.00 to Big Red to replace it if that happens. I do think its a great for those that need that level of security.

When I filled out the survey (actually did it like 5 or so times), I indicated I would be willing to spend $24 per year at the most. I see they have the price almost double what I indicated. That's the main reason why I have not purchased the package at this time. I'm hoping they lower the price- similarly how the TetherBerry group lowered their price after people got in a uproar about it.

I wish I had a knowledge of programming for the blackberry, and then I would perhaps write my own app ^wink^.

Yes I did the Thetherberry Beta. But, that one is a one time fee. I agree with you though, I too wish I had the knowledge to make my own.

True that one is a one time fee, but in the beginning they wanted something like $99 and then dropped it down. I wish SmrtGuard were a one time fee as well, or a much lower recurring fee. I'm still so torn about this Maybe we should flood support email with those requests? What do you think? ;-)

SmrtGuard has saved my butt a few times. I did come across some other app but all it did was the contacts and no pictures for the contacts or anything like that. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the app though. Hopefully I will come across it again, and maybe just maybe the other developer will incorporate some of the things that SmrtGuard does.

Just started this service a few weeks ago. Have to say, not that im pleased with shelling out more $$$ but i do like the security that i have with being able to remote wipe / find etc.

the one prob i have is that im not able to do the audio ping feature w/ v7.1
talked to tech support & they said to downgrade. Tbcpn reported that the audio ping worked w/ v6 & 148 but i havent decided to down grade, loving v7.1 tooooo much.

if anyone figures a work around for the audio, please share it with a brother..lol

I have not upgraded to v7.x because of known incompatibilities with 151. So for me, I am still running 148 on v6. Sorry to hear that it is not working for you with 151. I suspect this may be very similar as the 151 incompatibility and you probably shouldn't expect a fix too quickly

Hopefully I am wrong though because I certainly have been in the past ^wink.^

Thanks for the info. Have been really tossing around if i should downgrade :grumpy: to v6, but I love v7.1 & the 151 transitions are great. I may give in & try v6 again just so i can get my audio ping working.

i know this may be a stupid question but swapping radios does nothing right? (v6 & v7.x both had the 148 radio correct?)

guess im grasping, ok thanks.

The 148 radio may just be the thing. It won't hurt anything to try that, and if not, you can always switch back. But, I think you may lose the nice transitions-- not too sure about that one though.

Yeah I'm prob gonna try at least. Ill report back but I'm not to hopeful. I'm able to swap a radio and load an os with specific directions from BBC, but figuring this out is not my bag baby.

I dont think its the radio because i have v7 with the 90 radio and i still cannot receive the audio ping i just get the blue light but no sounds

Medic yes V6 and V7 both had the .148 radio, I think what you need to do is eliminate the .151 files, which V6 will do for you

I'm trying to reactivate my smrtguard but keep getting a connection timeout message. I also tried to download the 1.55 version and it doesn't look like i can reach the destination, i get a igoogle page. Anyone else having problems with smrtguard from their phone?

just logged on, everything seems to be working. When i first activated my service didnt work correctly right away. I just emailed tech support and they fix prob pretty promptly.

I hear ya jotan. it can be a little tough to swollow esp now days. Im just tough on my phones so i have always taken the insurance and now smrt guard. IMHO for me the 4$ is worth it a month, but hey, ya never know maybe they'll reduce their prices. $$:dunno:$$

Yes, I ended up going with the subscription as well a couple of weeks ago. I signed up for a year up front using a coupon code I came across for mobihand for either 20 or 25% off. That brought the price down for me ;-)
