Facebook 1.6 Review for the Blackberry
Here is a review I wrote back when this app first launched that I thought some of you might find of interest...
When you launch the application for the first time you will obviously need to login. Once you login, Facebook 1.6 will remember your information and you will not need to do this each time (unless you upgrade/downgrade your OS). Here is the home screen you will see. Notice that this resembles the home screen on your PC and features not only status updates but also other types of updates which is a new feature on this version...

Also while you're in the home screen tab, here is the menu that shows up when you hit the BB key. Note that you can select a friend from the home screen and by hitting the menu key you can send messages, write on their wall, call them, poke them, comment on their status, view their profile (new), etc. This is one screen shot showing the menu when a friend is NOT selected and the other is with the friend selected, again all from the home screen...

The next 'tab' at the top is the Notifications tab. This is another new feature on this version and the benefit is this keeps them separated from your timeline on the homepage like the older version...

Moving to the next tab which is the Upload Photo tab. This features thumbnail viewing so you can see what you're uploading before you select it to send. Very functional and pretty straight forward...

The next tab is the Friends tab. Here is where a ton of new features for this version appear. First you will see the Friend screen with a list of your friends and a symbol indicating whether their phone number is stored. Here is also a screen shot of the menu for this screen. Notice the increased features just like the home page...

Continuing on with the Friends tab... Looking at the menu pic above you will notice that you can now view your friend's profile from the mobile app (big improvement!). The screen shots below show the friend profile view with the added features. You will notice that from this screen you can write directly on their wall, poke them, message them, etc., etc., etc. just like the menu options above. ONE BIG THING that's different is that you can view and comment on their photo albums. These screen shots walk you through these features...

The next tab across the top row is Add a Friend. This functions like previous builds no big changes...

Next up is the Write on Wall tab. Very similar to previous build but here is a screen shot for those who have not used it...

The last tab at the top is the Messaging tab. No big improvements or changes here...

Based on all the new features I can't imagine anyone that uses Facebook not considering this a home run. If you haven't upgraded yet... get with the program!!! Most importantly Happy Berrying ;)
