ShutUp Camera Yanked From App World, Still Available Via Third-Party App Stores

If you've ever been in a situation where you wanna take a picture with your BlackBerry smartphone, but the shutter sound would just be rude to others around you, this app is for you!

Devcellent Solutions Inc. has released ShutUp Camera, which is basically an app that mutes your native Camera. The way this app differs from many others is that most of the other "camera mute" apps utilize a screenshot method, but ShutUp Camera gives you full high-resolution photos by muting sound in Native camera app.

This app must not have sat well with RIM, as they've pulled it from App World. Luckily, we are still offering the app in our BlackBerryOS Store.

Update: ShutUp Camera reinstated into App World as of 07-03-2012

In a lot of the US states, it is illegal to quiet a camera.

    That's right Sir Nick..
It really is illegal to most countries.. Even the Silent Foto by S4BB was deleted in AppWorld due to the same reason.
However, it can still be downloaded for FREE in MobiHand so everyone shouldn't worry about where they can get it.

Check out the screenshot of tweets from S4BB about it. Short and simple.

Well, I can certainly understand their concerns for pulling it. I do hate that shutter sound, though, when in a quiet environment and that loud "schtic" sound goes off and everyone turns around to see what it was

Please note that RIM did some excellent work on investigating laws in each country, and determined that it is OK to offer silent camera apps through AppWorld in all countries except Singapore and South Korea. We thank them for that.
