Thread: WordPress For BlackBerry v1.6 Beta Now Available

We reported last month that WordPress was working on update v1.6 for BlackBerry. Now, WordPress is allowing users to join in the public beta and download v1.6! This new version has a revisited UI and some great new features that trumps the previous v1.5. Let us know how this version works for you, and don't forget to leave some feedback!

Note: If you are using OS 7.1 you may get a "907 invalid COD" error if trying to download via OTA. To fix this, you may need to copy the jad and all cod files to your memory card, and then open jad from there in order to install. Thanks to Greg @alwaysaterrier for figuring this out.

Here are also a few words from the developer on what to look for in this beta release:

Some things to test:

• Are all of your blogs still in the app if you upgraded?
• Try to post a quick photo.
• If you have a WordPress.com blog in the app, try out the new Read function. Change filters, like some posts, view Freshly Pressed, and more.
• Try the new File Picker, is it fast? Responsive? (It now sort files by last-modification date.)
• The Posts/Pages/Comments lists now have infinite loading. Check to make sure it keeps loading your content.
• Is the new Dashboard rendered like it should? See example.

Just a few weeks ago WordPress came out with the first v1.6 beta release of their app for BlackBerry. Today they have released the second installment, v1.6 beta 2, on the road to a final v1.6 release. This version is for testing purposes and may contain bugs. Those who encounter any issues are encouraged to leave feedback on the WordPress for BlackBerry dev blog. The full changelog for v1.6 beta 2 entails:

• Fix for an issue reported last week where picture would appear rotated in QuickPhoto on devices with a gyroscope #222.
• QuickPhoto is now available for devices with OS5 or higher (yay!).
• Keyboard shortcuts keys added on the Post/Page/Comment Lists.
  
  • “N” – move to the next item in the list.
  • “P” – move to previous item in the list.
  • “T” – move to the first item of the list.
  • “B” – move to the last item of the list.
  
  
• Fix for an issue on the location module where the device location is not sent to the blog #223.
• Improved the WordPress.com Mobile Reader experience.
• Added new icons on the main Dashboard.
